Bell Ringer: What is heat?
1) First we discussed that heat is really the transfer of thermal energy. Objects that feel cold, feel that way because the heat is being transferred from our bodies to that object. Objects that feel warm, feel that way because the heat is being transferred to us.
Temperature is the average energy of the particles in a substance.
Thermal energy is the total energy of all the particles in a substance.
